Frankfort DECA Concludes 6th Season of Backpack Buddies

This concludes the 6th year of DECA Backpack Buddies, Frankfort High School DECA’s Community Service Project. During the entire school year, Frankfort DECA committed to feeding 135 Frankfort elementary students for 35 weeks. DECA members raised money and collected non-perishable food items in order to provide easy-to-make, nutritious, weekend Buddy Bags. A Buddy Bag consisted of 9-12 food items each week. Frankfort DECA is pleased to announce that the Backpack Buddies community service project will continue for the 2017-2018 school year.

A special thanks to senior, Karina Ramos for her dedication in delivering Buddy Bags for 24-weeks, and FHS Work Based Learning Co-op seniors for delivering the last 11-weeks of school. The outpouring of financial support this year will allow DECA to either meet the needs of feeding more elementary students or providing additional food items next year. DECA is excited to continue to serve the Frankfort community! Project Outcomes & Leadership Approximately, 98% of the Frankfort DECA Chapter participated in DECA Backpack Buddies. Also, 20 Community classes were involved in packaging weekly Buddy Bags throughout the school year.
