Howard County Man Dies in Howard County Jail

James Brandon Patterson, 1565 East CR 250, North Howard County, was pronounced dead at the Howard County Jail early Tuesday morning by the Howard County Coroner’s Office.

Patterson, 38, had been arrested by the Kokomo Police Department and brought to the Howard County Jail shortly after midnight on felony charges of Domestic Battery and Strangulation.

Patterson was placed in a holding area awaiting processing. During a security check he was discovered unconscious unresponsive and jail staff administered CPR and an ambulance was summoned.  On arrival to the jail, medics continued efforts to revive Patterson.

Howard County Deputy Coroner, Jay Price, pronounced Patterson dead at the scene.               .

Howard County Sheriff Steve Rogers has requested the Indiana State Police conduct a death investigation.  The Howard County Coroner has scheduled an autopsy for later today.
