The Frankfort High School boys’ golf team placed second in the Sagamore Conference Tournament Saturday at Rocky Ridge Golf Club in Darlington.
Frankfort’s Simon Weber took medalist honors with a 3-over par 72 on a very difficult course under less than perfect conditions. Teammates JT Whitlock (80), Riley Romanski (85) and Kasey Klecz (95) brought the Hot Dogs in a with a 335 team score. Weber and Whitlock earned First Team All-Conference honors, while Romanski lost in a three-hole playoff to two higher seeded golfers for a place on the first team, but earned a place on the conference second team.
Tri-West won the meet with a score of 321. Following Frankfort was Danville at 344, Crawfordsville 353, Lebanon 358, Western Boone 363, Southmont 354 and North Montgomery 383.
Frankfort visits Northwestern for a match play outing Tuesday and Deer Track on Thursday for the County Tourney.
On Thursday, Frankfort traveled to the Ravines, home course for McCutcheon, to compete in a triangular with the Mavericks and West Lafayette. McCutcheon won the match with a 167, followed by West Lafayette 173 and Frankfort 183. McCutcheon’s Jeffrey Cook took medalist honors with a 39.
FHS scores were Weber 40, Whitlock 41, Romanski 49 and Drew Grismer 53.
Nolan Varner and Reece Mitchell both with 48’s led the JV team.
On Tuesday, four Hot Dog seniors used their final home match to bring out their best performances of their careers to defeat North Montgomery. Seniors scores alone would have tallied a very respectable team score of 167, but sophomore Camden Cesare’s season-low 47 resulted in a 165 team score compared to 178 for North Montgomery.
Whitlock took medalist honors with an even-par 36 followed by Weber at 39, Klecz 43 and Romanski 49.
Junior varsity team scores were Varner 45, Ramsey Mitchell 47, Reece Mitchell 48 and Sam Wilson 49.
