Prairie, Central Girls’ Basketball Teams Off to Unbeaten Starts

Rebekah Lloyd scored a game-high 17 rebounds and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Clinton Prairie to a 42-37 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over Covington Tuesday night in Jefferson.

Clinton Prairie is now 2-0 on the season.

On Thursday, Prairie opened the season with a 67-37 triumph over Fountain Central. Tatum Neal led the way with 25 points on 7 of 7 shooting from behind the three-point arc. She also had seven steals. Emma McKinney added seven points, five rebounds and three assists.

Prairie opened an 18-8 lead after one quarter and never looked back and they outscored Fountain Central in every quarter.

Clinton Central Downs Southmont

Kaylea Whitcomb scored 23 points and backcourt teammate Jessica Akard added 10 points, nine steals and five assists to lead Clinton Central to a 48-31 victory over Southmont Saturday afternoon in Michigantown.

Whitcomb also grabbed a team-high six rebounds for Central, who improved to 2-0.

West Lafayette Tops Frankfort

West Lafayette outscored Frankfort 34-16 in the middle two quarters en route to a 63-37 non-conference victory Tuesday night. Frankfort is now 1-1.

In the season-opener on Saturday, Kimee Kingma scored 21 points and 10 rebounds and teammate Rylee Seibert added 16 points and nine rebounds as Frankfort defeated Fountain Central 54-33 at Case Arena.

Emily Michael had 11 points for the Hot Dogs, which outscored Fountain Central 28-10 in the second half, including 18-2 in the third quarter.
