Boil Water Advisory for Residents in Washington Ave. Area

Due to loss of pressure in the Frankfort Water Works Distribution System caused by construction activities on Washington Avenue, the Frankfort Water Works has issued a Boil Water Advisory for residents in the construction area on Tuesday morning.

This Boil Water Advisory applies only to homes and businesses on:

  1. Washington Ave. – 1403, 1450, 1600, 1601, 1604, 1606, 1635, 1640, 1648, 1650, 1652, 1750, 1800, 1801,1805, 1807, 1836, 1858
  2. Adkins Dr. – 862.

Residents should bring tap water to a rolling boil for three minutes and cool before using….or use bottled water.  Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.

On Tuesday, weather permitting, contractor crews will be shutting off the water supply to make new water main connections. The water system will lose pressure due to this construction activity.  When water mains lose pressure, it increases the chance that untreated water and undesirable microbes can enter the water main.

When the water pressure is restored, also on Tuesday, the water mains will be flushed and samples will be tested to insure the water is safe.

It is likely that you will need to boil water or use bottled water for drinking for two or more days.  You will be informed when tests show that you no longer need to boil your water. For more information, please contact Mike Beck, of the Frankfort Water Works at 765-654-5556.
