Operation KidSafe made its initial appearance in Frankfort on Friday at the Purdue Extension Office with one main objective.

“The main emphasis is to give the parents a tool just in case their child goes missing at some point,” said event sponsor Debbie Isgrigg of the Allstate Agency. “They can immediately give law enforcement officers the information needed to help in finding a child as quickly as possible.”

Operation KidSafe protects one million children. It also creates a free Amber Alert readiness kit for the child. The event was for all children one year or older.

While at the event, children received free health screenings in addition to their kit which included a photo and digital fingerprints. The service is totally private and safety tips were given on the back on the card where the children’s photo and fingerprints were on.

“This is, as far as I know, the first time that Operation KidSafe has come to Clinton County,” said Isgrigg. “It would be a shame for people not to take advantage of it. I just want people to be prepared just in case something happens.”

Isgrigg said she needed to do this when asked by organizer Mark Bott to do it.

“I use to be a teacher and I have a heart for children,” said Isgrigg.
