Troopers Investigating Early Morning Fatal Crash

Troopers for the Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a 53 year old Indianapolis woman Wednesday morning on I-70.

Today, just before 5:30 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched to a serious crash on I-70 westbound at the 71.6 mile marker. Upon arrival, first responders found an unresponsive female inside a 2015 Toyota Rav4. Laura Moreno Bravo was pronounced deceased on the scene by medics from the Decatur Township Fire Department.

Investigators believe one tire on the Toyota became flat prior to the crash, causing Moreno Bravo to pull to the emergency shoulder and come to a stop. She came to a stop out of the roadway in the gore-point of the ramp between the main line of I-70 and the collector from I-465 onto I-70. A 2013 Ford F-150, driven by 69 year old Michael Norman of Indianapolis, left the roadway and struck the rear end of the Toyota. Moreno Bravo was inside the vehicle at the time of the impact and was not wearing a seat belt. She was not ejected. Norman was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

I-70 remained restricted for nearly five hours during crash investigation and clean up, however the interstate was never closed. In compliance with Indiana Law the driver of the F-150 was required to submit to a test for intoxication, those results are pending.
