National Weather Service Extends Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flash Flood Warning for Southwestern Clinton County

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for east central Fountain County, southern Tippecanoe County, southwestern Clinton County, northwestern Boone County and northern Montgomery County until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (today).

At 3:49 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located 9 miles north of Crawfordsville, moving east at 25 mph. Hazard will quarter size hail. This is a radar-indicated storm. Damage to vehicles is expected.

Locations impacted include Crawfordsville, Thorntown, Waynetown, Darlington, Linden, Colfax, Hillsboro, Advance, New Richmond, Wingate and Mellott. This also includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 149 and 155 and Interstate 74 between mile markers 21 and 42.

The NWS has also extended the Flash Flood Warning for southeastern Tippecanoe County, southwestern Clinton County and northeastern Montgomery County until 6:45 p.m. Wednesday (tonight).

At 3:42 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. Some locations that will experience flooding include Frankfort, Shadeland, Kirklin, Linden, Colfax, Clarks Hill and Michigantown. This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 151 and 164.
