Brown County Flash Flooding Poses Challenges

Severe weather kept Brown County emergency services personnel busy last night.

At approximately 6:31 p.m. Sunday, Brown County 911 received a call from a residence off Upper Schooner Road. Water was entering the home as a result of flash flooding.

Indiana Conservation Officers and Nashville Fire Department rescued the family of four, including one juvenile, from the flooded home.

Floodwater covering sections of State Road 46 West also caused Indiana Conservation Officers and deputies from the Brown County Sheriff’s Department to close the road for a short time to prevent any further water emergencies.

Indiana Conservation Officers promote safe driving practices when approaching water on the roadways. It is strongly recommended if the road surface cannot be seen then, “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
