The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for eight separate counties, including Clinton County, until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Besides Clinton, other counties affected are Southern Carroll County, Tippecanoe County, Western Howard County, Northern Hendricks County, Boone County, Montgomery County and Northeastern Putnam County.
At 1:53 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Delphi to 16 miles southwest of Frankfort to 9 miles south of Crawfordsville, moving east at 45 mph. Hazards with the storm are 60 mph wind gusts. Large hail and damaging winds and continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Damage to roofs, siding and trees is expected.
Locations impacted include Frankfort, Lafayette, Crawfordsville, West Lafayette, Brownsburg, Lebanon, Danville, Avon, Pittsboro, Whitestown, Flora, Rossville, Shadeland, Thorntown, Dayton, Battle Ground, Mulberry, Russiaville, Ladoga and Jamestown. This also includes the following highways: Interstate 65 between mile markers 129 and 138 and Interstate 74 between mile markers 28 and 67.
