The Rossville Consolidated School District celebrated the completion of Phase One of its school renovation project with the community during a ribbon cutting ceremony held at the school Wednesday.
“We’re so thankful for the community for supporting this project,” said Rossville School Board President Joe Hufford. “When you talk about Rossville, the school is the hub of the community.”
Phase One Renovations included safe entrance, art room, band room, administrative area, agriculture shops and classrooms, library and classrooms.
“Phase Two has begun and it will be done about June of 2020,” said Rossville Superintendent Dr. Jim Hanna. “We’ll start Phase Three June of 2020. Basically, a year for that, we’ll be done in June of 2021.”
Hanna said the entire renovation cost was $20 million.
“We started (Phase One) in February of 2018,” said Hanna. “It’s been a good project as far as staying on track. It (the project) has been a little over a year and a lot was accomplished in that year.”
Architect for the project was Lancer & Beebe, LLC; the Civil Engineer was Abonmarche; the Structural Engineer was Lynch, Harrison and Brumleve; Mechanical Engineer was Sims-Durkin Associates; and Construction Manager was Tecton Construction Management, Inc.
Hanna said work on the gym fieldhouse is part of Phase Two.
“This is a big step,” said Hanna. “There are always things you can do to continue to improve. We’re not done yet. This design works for us. The security also had been a tremendous help.”
