Riley Goodnight rushed for 216 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Sam Michael threw for three touchdowns to lead Frankfort to a 34-31 non-conference road victory over South Central on Friday night.
The victory improved the Hot Dogs to 3-2 on the season ahead of this Friday’s home game against Western Boone. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Ramsey Mitchell recovered a fumble and the opening play and Goodnight went 52 yards on Frankfort’s first play of the game for a touchdown.
Michael completed passes to five different receivers as he threw for 177 yards. Jade Ayers caught seven passes for 106 yards and a touchdown and Kyle Earl caught his first touchdown pass of the season.
Gabe Chavez once again led the defense, with Ramsey Mitchell and Reece Mitchell making some big plays on fourth down stops. Ramsey Mitchell, along with Vlad Carreas Lantigua, Charlie Garcia and Ethan Cook provided the pressure on the final defensive stand to win the game. Bryce McDonald and Ivan Duarte had the pass breakup that sealed the win for Frankfort.
This game was a replacement game for Lebanon, which did not play for the second straight week because of a COVID-19 outbreak.
Two Girl Golfers Advance to Regional
Frankfort’s Sydney Cesare and Emilee Shipley both advanced to regional play this week following sectional action Friday at Coyote Crossing Lafayette.
Cesare finished third overall with an 86. Her round was highlighted by two birdies and six pars. Shipley shot a 95 to secure the last individual spot.
FHS Boys’ Tennis
The Hot Dogs hosted a four-team tennis tournament on Saturday and wound up finishing third behind team champion University and runner-up Seeger. Danville took fourth.
Jim Ostler won both his matches at number one singles, defeating Seeger and Danville. Chase Thomas defeated his Seeger opponent.
In the second round, the Hot Dogs defeated Danville as the doubles teams of Elijah West and Luke Hodge, along with the team of Aidan Hudspith and Eli Grasham were both victorious.
Hot Dog JV Invite
The Frankfort JV volleyball team went 1-2 at the Hot Dog Invitational on Saturday. FHS defeated Parke Heritage and lost to both Benton Central and Madison Grant.
