Frankfort High School junior Elijah Anthony captured the 126-pound wrestling championship at the Frankfort Regional on Saturday.
Anthony, 21-0 on the season, defeated Holden Southard of South Vermillion by pin in 30 seconds before defeating Dylan Parodi of Fisher with a pin in 2:00 in the semifinals. Anthony then defeated Luke Farling of Carmel in the championship match by a score of 5-1.
Anthony now advances to the New Castle Semi-State on Saturday. He scored all 22 of Frankfort’s points which gave them a seventh-place finish.
Clinton Central Girls Win Attica Sectional
Clinton Central won its first sectional championship since 1997 with a 62-38 victory over North Vermillion in the championship game of the sectional basketball tournament at Attica Saturday night.
Clinton Central advances to the regional tournament at Wes-Del on Saturday where they will play Northfield at noon.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 20-1 lead in the first quarter and were never threatened after that.
Sam Adams led Central with 17 point. Sara Parkison was next with 14, Kendall Davison had 12 and Allison Robbins added 10. Davison led the team with nine rebounds followed by Adams and Parkison with seven each. Robbins had six boards.
In the semifinals Friday night, Central limited Attica to eight points in the first half, including two points in the second quarter, on its way to a 53-24 victory.
Adams led the team in scoring with 15 points. Parkison had 11, Davison 10 and Robbins nine. Parkison led the team in rebounds with 13 points, followed by Davison with eight and Adams had seven.
Central Girls Swim Team Sixth at Sectional
Clinton Central finished sixth out of 11 teams at the sectional meet Saturday in Zionsville.
Several swimmer made personal best swim times and freshman Macie McQuinn set more freshman records.
The Hoosier Heartland Conference meet will be held at Clinton Central on Wednesday.
FHS Girls Swim Team Finishes 10th at Sectional
Both the Frankfort 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay took eighth in the sectional swim meet Saturday at Zionsville.
The 200 medley relay team consisted of Carmina Arizmendi, Amber Houchen, Karely Santos and Payton Teter. They finished in a time of 2:16.90.
The 200 freestyle relay was Teter, Santos, Houchen and Yasmin Lemus. They finished in a time of 1:57.49.
Individually, Santos was 14th in the 100 butterfly (1:15.32), Houchen took 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.26) and Georgia Meyer was 16th in the 200 IM (2:42.76) and 500 freestyle (6:50.13).
The team finished 10th in the overall standings.
