Traffic Stop Leads to Methamphetamine Arrest

At approximately 1:41 a.m. Friday, Frankfort Police Officer Mitchell Cottrell conducted a traffic stop in the area of Clay and Green streets.

Officer Cottrell requested a Clinton County Sheriff’s K9 unit. Sergeant Ryan Ashlock and K9 Chase arrived and assisted by performing an exterior sniff of the vehicle. During a subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle, illegal contraband was located.

Arrested were 39-year-old Amanda Lawson of Frankfort and 41-year-old Robert Allen of Frankfort. Lawson was booked into the Clinton County Jail with the following preliminary charges: Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of a Syringe.

Allen was booked in with a preliminary charge of Unlawful Possession of a Syringe as well as citations for Expired Plates and Driving While Suspended.

Lawson and Allen were transported to the Clinton County Jail where they will await former charges by the Clinton County Prosecutor’s Office.
