Frankfort Street Department reports that progress is continuing on Washington Avenue. Milestone Contractors are nearing completion of the stormwater system. Once that work has finished, all utility work will be completed, and construction crews will move on to the removal of all existing asphalt and underlying brick. This work is necessary in order to proceed on the subgrade treatment process.
“Milestone Contractors and American Structurepoint met with us last week to provide an update on the construction progress, and we want to share that information with the community,” says Frankfort Street Department Superintendent Jason Forsythe. “We recognize that the Washington Avenue project has impacted travel in the city and has been an inconvenience to many, but we believe that the end result will be a significant benefit local residents and drivers.”
Retaining walls are being installed this week and will continue through next week. Concrete work, including curbs and gutters, is expected to be completed by November, with base stone and intermediate asphalt to follow. While no date has been set for the road to reopen, Frankfort Street Department will continue to update the community as the Washington Avenue project progresses.
