Change was the operative word at Tuesday night’s Utility Service Board meeting.
First, Stacy Uitts, head of the Billing Office, resigned effective Friday, June 23. She will be replaced on an interim basis by Karen Milan.
“I will never fault anybody that wants to better themselves,” said USB Chairman Kent Brewer. “She’s an outstanding employee and she’s going to stick around and help us and help the girls get the reports out for them.”
Second, after receiving calls about late penalties being added to those who didn’t receive their Social Security checks until the deadline for paying utility bills, the USB took action on when those bills are now due. Brewer added people will now have 20 days to bill rather than 10.
Third. the USB elected to change the agenda items for the rest of the year.
“It’s just something I’ve been thinking about for the past two or three months,” said Brewer. “Trying to get everybody in here every two weeks of the month is difficult. The second meeting of the month, we will come in, do claims, go through the meeting and it might last 25 to 30 minutes.”
Brewer said the first meeting of the month will be the main meeting. The second monthly meeting will be to do claims and then have a work session.
Lastly, Brewer announced assignments for the Utility Department liaisons have been changed. The changes included Rick Gunyon becoming the auditor and head of the Lagoons, while Mike Kelley will head up IT.
