Final Production of 2023 Red Barn Summer Theatre Starts Thursday

The Red Barn Summer Theatre presents the final production of the 2023 season “Curtains! A Musical Comedy Whodunit,” by Rupert Holmes, sponsored by The Farmers Bank.

The play takes the audience back to 1959 in the Colonial Theatre in Boston when, just as the curtain closes on opening night of a not-very-good musical, the lead actress falls dead. A fast-talking detective with a love of musical theatre is sent to investigate. He has 24 hours to find a killer while also offering his advice and insight into making the play better. With music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, the

duo who wrote Cabaret and Chicago, this riotous musical comedy will keep the audience laughing until the “curtain” falls.

The play opens on Thursday July 6th and runs until Sunday, July 16th. On Saturday, July 8th, an extra 2 p.m. matinee will be performed in addition to the 7:30 p.m. evening performance.  Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for students and are available on-line at redbarntheatre.com. Tickets may also be purchased by telephone at 765-659-1657 or in person at the Red Barn Box Office, Wednesday through Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00 and Sundays from 12-2.

Opening night, Thursday, July 6th will offer Music on the Lawn sponsored by Heather’s Flowers with Jeffrey Bowen returning to perform from 6:15-7:15 pm.  Only on opening night and making it extra sweet, patrons will be treated to  souvenir show-themed cookies by Gina Vansickle and milk (or cold water for the lactose-intolerant) will be available  to each patron for the ride home, thanks to Goodwin and Archer Weston Funeral Homes,

The Cellar will be open for business on Opening night, Fridays and Saturdays only featuring Beer, “Barn Box” snacks and a wonderful selection of wines from our partners at Blackhawk Winery of Sheridan.  When the Cellar is open, we also have Music on the Lawn before the show which is sponsored by Heather’s Flowers. Come an hour early and enjoy some music and a beverage before the show.

Michael Taylor is the Artistic Director of the Red Barn Summer Theatre. The theatre was founded in 1968 by Martin and Carol Ann Henderson.
