Residents will see an increase in their electric bills in the coming year according to Utility Service Board Chairman Kent Brewer Monday night.
“IMPA (Indiana Municipal Power Agency) is giving us a 3.3 percent increase in our electric charges,” said Brewer. “That will be carried over to the rate payers through the tracker factor as it did last year.”
Brewer could not say exactly how much of an increase that will be for taxpayers.
In other news, it was announced that Frankfort Water Works Superintendent Chris Hensley is leaving his post for another position.
Brewer and General Manager Todd Corrie both said Hensley did an outstanding job and that he is going to be missed. Brewer added another reason might be some burnout because of all the projects that the City has been involved with.
“There cold have been some burnout because of all the I-65 stuff, State Road 75, the Water Main Loop down around County Road 0, State Road 28, State R0ad 28 East and then the plant expansion,” said Brewer.
Brewer added they are hoping to have a replacement for Hensley by the first of the year.
The USB also passed their insurance plan.
“Everything is the same as it was last year,” said Brewer. “They saying a 5.3 percent increase in premiums. We’re happy with it.”
Brewer added even though the City has not passed it as yet, they are happy with the plan.
