Community Schools of Frankfort students grades 5 through 8 competed at the 2024 Lafayette Regional Science and Engineering Fair with students receiving 49 individual awards, including one student being recognized as the overall runner-up for best project in the junior division.
This year, 57 Frankfort students ranging from 5th grade through 8th grade competed against other students from a 12-county area surrounding Lafayette in the regional science and engineering fair. The Hot Dogs shined in the fair, bringing home 49 individual awards, and Marley Giesler was awarded the overall runner-up for best project in the junior division, which includes grades 7 and 8.
Additionally, eight junior division projects were selected to advance to April’s Hoosier State Science and Engineering Fair in Indianapolis. Some of the students were recognized for their project moving on to the state competition, such as Sadie Sheets, Kloe Castaneda, Jayden Sallee, Marley Giesler and Salvador Mejia-Santos.
Amongst the other schools that attended the fair, Frankfort Middle School was recognized as the top performing school overall in the junior division, which is a designation that the school has received in prior years.
