Ten art students from Rossville High School have been featured at Indiana University Kokomo as they participate in the prestigious High School Art Exhibition.
The students are making waves as juniors and seniors are being featured in the exhibition at the Indiana University Kokomo Art Gallery that is focusing upon the creative prowess of 50 student artists from across Northern Central Indiana, including the ten students from Rossville.
The exhibition commenced on Wednesday, March 1, with an awards ceremony and reception, and the exhibit will continue to run until Thursday, March 30, and nearly 50 students from Rossville High School traveled to the campus on March 4 to view the exhibit and appreciate the realm of contemporary art.
Art teacher Natalie Thomas-Martinez commented that the diverse array of artwork that was displayed at the exhibit that spanned various mediums, including drawings, paintings, mixed media, digital art, sculpture and ceramics are causes for excitement. This year’s exhibition features artwork from seven schools across the region as a means of showcasing the talents of Hoosier students.
According to Superintendent James Hanna, several Rossville students received accolades and honors for their artwork with focuses upon the talent required to craft the artwork and the creativity utilized. The exhibition allowed for a learning opportunity to be had by Rossville students who have never attended an art exhibition in the past, and it also provided the students with a firsthand look into the honor of showcasing their work in a professional setting.
“The Rossville High School community extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the participating students,” Hanna released. “It expresses gratitude to IU Kokomo for providing a platform to nurture and celebrate young artistic talent.”
