Three Frankfort Fire Department members have officially begun the Indiana Fire Fighters Honor Guard Training to serve as Honor Guards.

Firefighters Jake Fearnow, Blake Ayers and Logan Adams were welcomed alongside a vast group of Indiana firefighters to Indianapolis for a week-long training for the Indiana Fire Fighters Honor Guard. The Professional Fire Fighters Union of Indiana developed the training to assist departments across the state with the opportunity to have members train to serve as members of their respective Honor Guards locally.

“Whether a ceremonial presentation of our nation’s colors at events or honoring our fallen at graveside ceremonies and memorials, a high0functioning Honor Guard is a cornerstone of the fire service,” the union released. “We wish these members a successful week of formal training ending in a mock line of duty funeral and graveside internment ceremony on Friday.”

The firefighters will train alongside the entire cadre with training led by local firefighters dedicated to ensuring that communities across the state have members who are qualified and certified to conduct the various duties of the Honor Guard. The Frankfort Fire Department released a statement of gratitude and respect for the Frankfort members who have dedicated their time to the program.

“It makes us all proud to have three members from the Frankfort Fire Department in this honor guard class,” the department released. “Great job men.”
