The Clinton County community will welcome State Health Commissioner Dr. Lindsay Weaver to Frankfort on June 13 for an open conversation about health in the state.

Weaver began her career as Health Commissioner for the State in June 2023 after serving as the Chief Medical Officer for the Indiana Department of Health. Weaver began her position with the State only one month before the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic in March 2020, which provided her a hands-on experience with pandemics and health-related emergencies that she would bring with her into the Health Commissioner role to ensure the prosperity of local communities.

Weaver joined the Indiana Department of Health as Chief Medical Officer on Feb. 3, 2020 after a career as an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine alongside practicing emergency medicine and end-of-life care at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Weaver also holds board certification in both emergency medicine and hospice and palliative care medicine.

Weaver earned her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Kentucky and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine before receiving residency training in emergency medicine and fellowship training in hospice and palliative medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Weaver also completed a fellowship in ethics at the Charles Warren Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics at Indiana University Health.

Weaver has boasted an extensive career in health and medicine as she served as quality director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at IU Health, physician lead for the System Sepsis Steering Committee at IU Health, Executive Director for the Indiana Patient Preference Coalition and President of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Emergency Medicine Physicians.

Weaver has utilized her position with the State to strive further to create healthier communities and inspire women in medicine to pursue a career that will benefit their community.
