Marilyn E. McClain

Marilyn E. McClain was born on October 5, 1930, and passed away July 9, 2024, with her daughters at her bedside. She was the daughter of William and Pearl Newman and graduated from Lebanon High School. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Charles Newman, Louis Newman and Marion Newman.

She married D. Joe Wood in 1948 and later divorced. She lived in Boone County most of her life with the exception of 12 years when she married Donald E. McClain on June 10, 1975. During this time, they lived in Bakersfield and Hemet, California before returning to Lebanon.

She loved her family dearly and enjoyed being with them as often as possible. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her four daughters, Linda Campbell in New Palestine, Deborah (Jim) Shubert in Florida, Nancy (Rex) Goldsberry in Lebanon, and Jane Wood in Florida, as well as one stepson David (Liz) McClain in Bloomington. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Lisa Ditchley, Doug (Jen) Sanders, Abby (Derek) Warren, Brian (Jamie) Goldsberry, Bradley (Josie) Goldsberry, and Mallory (Taylor) Turney. Marilyn was also blessed with eight great-grandchildren, Lexi Campbell, Bodhi Sanders, Hadley Warren, Elsie Goldsberry, Cece Goldsberry, Emmett Goldsberry, Charlotte Turney and Delaney Turney.

Private family graveside services will be held at Browns Wonder Cemetery, in Lebanon, Indiana. Myers Mortuary and Boone County Crematory have been entrusted with her cremation arrangements.
