The Carroll County community has been invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the Carroll County Shell Building being implemented in the Hoosier Heartland Industrial Park.
The groundbreaking is set for today, Friday, July 12 at 12 p.m. at the new location of the Carroll County Shell Building at 239 N. Heartland Dr. in Delphi within the Hoosier Heartland Industrial Park.
In May, the Carroll County Redevelopment Commission authorized Chairman Josh Plue to sign a contract for the design and construction of a shell building at a cost of $4,997,018 in the Hoosier Heartland Industrial Park during their May 24 meeting.
Following discussions about a possible lawsuit over the fact that building plans by one architect had been leaked to another company, Plue convinced the members of the commission to hire a new plan and design firm, which added around three months to the completion timeline for the project while eliminating the possibility of a lawsuit.
Prior to the hiring of a new plan and design firm, the commission had approved light and heavy traffic asphalt drives for the structure as well as the entrance being moved to the middle of the building rather than the front of the building.
The Shell Building is set to be completed around March 31, 2025 as a means of preparing for the possibility that another prospect may purchase the building for industrial operations in the southern end of Delphi.
The Shell Building has been a project through a partnership with Carroll County Economic Development Corporation, Steinberger Construction and F&K Construction.
