State Rep. Mark Genda (R-Frankfort) recently honored the Rossville High School Class 1A softball team with a proclamation recognizing their first state championship and record-breaking season.

Genda welcomed the 13-player team to the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis on Tuesday and presented them with a proclamation recognizing their hard work and new title as the 2024 Class 1A Indiana High School Athletic Association state champions.

“These young athletes have accomplished so much while also demonstrating exceptional dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout their season,” Genda said. “I am proud of their first state title and wish the Rossville High School softball team all the best next season.”

The Rossville Hornets defeated two-time defending state champions Tecumseh High School 2-1 on June 8 in the IHSAA State Championship held at Purdue University’s Bittinger Stadium. Rossville finished with a 28-3 record, making this team the first in program history to win a state title.

The Rossville High School softball team will defend their state title in the 2025 softball season. To learn more about the Rossville Hornets, visit the Rossville Middle/High School athletics page.
