Combine Fire Sends Mulberry Fire To Indianapolis Hospital In Critical Condition

A combine fire Friday evening led to the immediate transport of a local Mulberry farmer to an Indianapolis hospital in critical condition.

On Friday, Oct. 18 just before 6 p.m., deputies with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office reportedly responded to a fully-engulfed combine fire in the area of County Road 850 West and County Road 500 North. First responders stated that upon initial arrival, both male occupants were safely outside of the equipment engulfed in flames.

Clinton County EMS reportedly transported passenger Ted Huffer, 67, of Mulberry to an Indianapolis Hospital in critical condition. No further information regarding Huffer’s condition has been released.

“We ask that the community join us in continued thoughts and prayers for the Huffer Family and Farm,” the department released.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Clinton County Central Dispatch, Clinton County EMS, Madison Township Volunteer Fire Department, Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department and Rossville Volunteer Fire Department.
