The Frankfort Street Department will begin its annual leaf collection program on Monday, October 28th. To ensure efficient collection, residents are asked to place leaf piles as close to the curb as possible without obstructing traffic, avoid including sticks, grass clippings, or other yard waste in leaf piles, refrain from parking vehicles near leaf piles, keep leaf piles away from utility poles, and help prevent sewer backups by keeping leaves clear of street drains.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation in making leaf collection as efficient as possible,” said Jason Forsythe, Street Superintendent. “By following these guidelines, we can minimize disruptions and ensure that our crews can collect leaves promptly.”

There will be no fall clean-up event for the City of Frankfort this year. Residents can utilize the following options for bulk pickup or disposal: contact the Frankfort Street Department for a small fee, bring items to the Street Department during business hours, or dispose of leaves, brush, and grass clippings at the Street Department’s compost site located at 905 Burlington Avenue. The site is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to noon. Leaves and clippings must be removed from bags before being added to the compost pile.

The leaf collection schedule will be divided by city quadrant. Updates on the current collection area will be available on the City of Frankfort and Street Department Facebook pages.
