Mr. Jack LaVere Lowery, 76, passed away Saturday night, November 30, 2024, at his home in Lebanon, Indiana. He was born December 8, 1947, in Lebanon, a son of the late Ray Harrison Lowery and Mary Agnes (Smith) Lowery.
Jack was a 1966 graduate of Lebanon High School. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country honorably.
On March 2, 2014, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo (Land) Lowery in Lebanon; she survives.
Jack had worked for a period of time for General Motors, Allison Division and later Air Serve as a driver. He was a lifetime member of the Indianapolis VFW. In his free time, Jack enjoyed playing golf, bowling, fishing and shooting trap.
Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Betty Lowery of Lebanon; children, Tracie (Fern) Lowery of Washington, Darrel Poppino of Indianapolis, April West of Lafayette, Michelle (Leonard) Rea of Indianapolis, Joseph (Starla) Poppino of Carbon, Indiana, Crystal (Shannon) Claywell of Kentucky, Candice (Sven) Bellersheim of Bloomington, and Jessica (Chad) Funkhouser of Crawfordsville; 15 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, David Ray Lowery.
Funeral Services with Military Rites are planned for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 North Lebanon Street, in Lebanon, Indiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery, east of Waugh, in Boone County, Indiana.
