Mental Health America of Boone County released information to spread awareness for National Stalking Awareness Month for community members to help themselves or others identify, prevent and address stalking-related instances.
The organization defined stalking behaviors as making unwanted phone calls, using technology to monitor or track, following or watching, sending unwanted gifts, showing up uninvited, making violent threats or using family or friends to directly or indirectly determine someone’s whereabouts.
“Stalking is not okay and can quickly escalate to violence,” the organization released. “If you feel you are being stalked, please report it to your local law enforcement department.”
