Kenneth R. Smith, 86, of Kirklin, passed away March 13, 2025 at Clinton House Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born August 14, 1938 in Morgan County, Ohio to Dale & Lucy (Mendenhall) Smith. He married Virgie (Cox) Chambers on December 22, 1973 in Kirklin and she survives.
Ken grew up in Ohio and was a 1957 graduate of Fredericktown High School. He moved to Kirklin in 1972. He worked at Indiana Brass for 25 years and was a handyman. Ken was formerly on the Kirklin Town Council, and Kirklin Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief. He enjoyed motorcycles and playing golf.
Ken is survived by his wife Virgie of Kirklin, sons, Michael (Kathleen) Chambers of Alpharetta, GA, Rodney Smith of Florida, daughter, Polly Stayner of H
eartwell, GA, sisters, Charlotte Hankins of North Carolina, Shirley Miller of Michigan, Carol Mayhew of Ohio, brothers, David (Dale) Smith of Florida, Paul (Marilyn) Smith of Ohio, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
