Frankfort will celebrate Latin culture this Saturday, September 13, as the Raíces Festival returns to Prairie Creek Park. Running from 4 to 10:30 p.m. on The Farmers Bank Performance Stage, the festival promises a full day of music, food, art, and family-friendly activities.
This year’s theme, “Alebrijes: Magic, Art, and Tradition,” honors the colorful, handcrafted creatures that symbolize creativity and imagination in Latin culture.
Festival highlights include:
Live music: Performances by Mariachi Sol de America, Paisanos Sin Fronteras, Los Landa’s, and Kash.
Dance and demonstrations: Dance performances, cooking demonstrations, and face painting.
Family activities: Pony rides, kids’ games, and a photo booth.
Contests: Tamalazo, art and essay competitions, mini model contests, Miss Raíces pageant, Alebrije-inspired makeup and mask contests, and a pupusa-eating challenge.
Special features: Frankfort High School Band, a flag salute, kickoff parade, and a 360-degree video booth.
Dozens of food vendors will offer a wide array of traditional Latin dishes alongside local favorites, ensuring a delicious experience for all attendees.

Cindy Loveless will be broadcasting live from 4 to 6 p.m. on WILO at the Raíces Festival, bringing the music and energy straight to Prairie Creek Park.
