Frankfort Sweeps Clinton Central In Volleyball

The Frankfort Hot Dogs won 3-0 over the Clinton Central Bulldogs Tuesday night.

The Hot Dogs settled in quickly in set one, taking the first five points of the match. After a quick Bulldog timeout, the first set went back and forth. Clinton Central cut the lead to as little as one, but couldn’t take the lead, and Frankfort took the set 25-19.

In set two, Frankfort jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Clinton Central crawled back, eventually grabbing its first lead of the match. A late run by the Hot Dogs gave them the advantage, taking set two 25-23.

The third set was a battle; Clinton Central controlled it early, but Frankfort scored some timely points. Knotted at 20, the Hot Dogs grabbed a lead and were able to hold off the Bulldogs to take set three 25-23.

Lily Rockhold was fantastic for Frankfort. She finished with a match-high 18 kills, pushing her season total to 344, a mark that leads the Monon Athletic Conference. Rockhold has now posted double-digit kills in six straight matches, her longest stretch of the season.

Rockhold’s late kill in the third set was named the Solidarity Community Federal Credit Union Play of the Game. She was also named The Farmers Bank Player of the Game.

Jalen Smith also had a good day for the Hot Dogs, finishing with 19 assists and seven kills.

Clinton Central got solid performances from Carly Davison, Molly Boone and Madison Cearlock.

After picking up win no. 200 last week, Frankfort coach Kia Rushton has her aquad at 17-6 heading into the final stretch.

Clinton Central sits at 8-11, with an important conference match against Tri-Central up next.
