City of Frankfort – Speed Hump Update

The City of Frankfort Street Department recently evaluated the speed humps installed on Kyger Street and on Clay Street near Dorner Park. Upon review, these installations did not meet the City’s design or quality expectations and have since been removed.
Since the installation did not meet our standards, no taxpayer dollars were used for their placement, removal, or the repair of those areas.
We do plan to have new speed humps installed that meet the proper specifications — ideally before winter, but depending on when asphalt plants close for the season and scheduling with the contractor, this may occur in early spring.
In addition, the City is conducting a traffic study on East Kyger Street to evaluate the potential installation of stop signs at Clay Street. If determined appropriate, this change would create a three-way stop at the intersection of Clay and Kyger Streets.
The City of Frankfort appreciates the community’s patience as we work to enhance roadway safety and ensure all traffic-calming measures meet the highest standards. Updates will continue to be provided as this project moves forward.
