
Loyd, who is originally from Greensburg, Indiana, is a 1999 graduate of Greensburg High School, and in 2003, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from Indiana State University. On October 24, 2004, he graduated from the 64th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed as a Trooper and assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Versailles, where he served for over seven years.
In 2012, Loyd was promoted to Detective to serve in Field Investigations at the Versailles Post. In 2021, Loyd was promoted to the rank of Sergeant where he served as an Investigative Squad Leader.
During his career, Loyd has served the Indiana State Police in the following disciplines: Field Training Officer, Tactical Intervention Platoon, Hostage Crisis Negotiator, Special Investigations, and on the Homeland Security Task Force.
Loyd, his wife, and children are residents of Decatur County.
