Brett A. Barton, 59, of Frankfort, passed away November 29, 2025 at I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, IN. He was born May 23, 1966 in Lafayette, IN to Robert & Peggy (Heck) Barton. He married Gricelda “Grace” Salazar on October 22, 2003 in Lafayette.
Brett was a 1984 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School, attended Purdue University and was a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2009 he began working with the Clinton County Corrections Program and since 2016 was Director of the program. He also previously owned and operated Papa Buds Pizza in Lafayette. Brett moved to Frankfort from Lafayette in 2016. Brett was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed sports, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, loved music, liked to vacation at Bear Lake, MI and spend his summers in his pool. Brett always loved and supported his three girls in all of their activities and events.
Brett is survived by his wife, Grace Salazar-Barton of Frankfort, mother, Peggy Barton of Lafayette, daughters, Angie (Alejandro Magallanes) Salazar of Clarksville, TN, Alayna Barton of Frankfort and Laikyn Barton of Frankfort, sister, Robin Spitznagel of Battleground, grandchildren, Isla & Zahir, niece, Carly (Phil) Schafer of Brownsburg, nephew, Cody Spitznagel of Lafayette, great niece and nephew, Ellie and Cam, and his in-laws, Dora & Alfonso Salazar of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort, with a Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family remembrances will begin at 9:45 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 St. Mary’s Ave., Frankfort with Father Paul Cochran officiating.
