Students from the Purdue Extension of Clinton County’s Learning to Lead program visited the Indiana Statehouse on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for a hands-on look at the legislative process.
State Senator Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) and State Representative Mark Genda (R-Frankfort) welcomed the students to the Statehouse. During their visit, the students toured the Senate Chamber, asked questions, and gained insight into how state government functions.
The program provides Clinton County students with opportunities to learn about civic engagement, leadership, and public service through real-world experiences. Both Buchanan and Genda emphasized the importance of youth involvement in government and encouraged the students to continue learning about public policy.
The visit was part of ongoing efforts by local leaders to connect young residents with the workings of state government and inspire future civic participation.
