Updated Beach Amenities at Brookville Lake & Closure of Quakertown SRA Beach

Guests visiting Brookville Lake this year will enjoy a beach house remodel completed this winter at Mounds State Recreation Area (SRA) and recently updated beach amenities at Whitewater Memorial State Park, while the beach at Quakertown SRA will close due to a significant drop in usage.

Whitewater Memorial State Park’s beach features a playground and restroom facilities that have been renovated in recent years, and a fishing pier just steps from the beach.

The decision to close the beach at Quakertown SRA follows a multi-year review by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) showing a steady decline in use of the beach and rising maintenance and operational costs. Based on those factors, the DNR decided that permanently closing the beach and using the space in a different recreational capacity is the most responsible use of resources.

Quakertown SRA will remain a prime destination for boating, fishing, camping, and other outdoor recreational activities, and Hoosiers and guests will continue to have convenient access to the updated beach amenities at Mounds SRA and Whitewater Memorial State Park. Each is less than a 15 minute drive from Quakertown SRA. Each also offers a full range of other outdoor recreational amenities.
