On March 16, 2026, at approximately 9:37a.m., Officers of the Kokomo Police Department were dispatched to Financial Builder’s Credit Union, located in the 2800 block of South Lafountain Street, on a reported robbery of an armored vehicle. Upon arrival, officers learned an employee of the armored vehicle had been pepper sprayed in the face by individuals and robbed of an undetermined amount of currency. The employee of the armored vehicle was transported and treated at a local hospital and later released.
A description of a suspect vehicle was provided to the police. The suspect vehicle was found to be abandoned in the 3000 block of Matthew Drive. A witness reported observing individuals exit the abandoned vehicle, dropping currency, and get into a red Dodge Challenger. The red Dodge Challenger left the area driving south. Shortly thereafter, the red Dodge Challenger was located in Hamilton County abandoned along U.S. 31.
The investigation led investigators to an apartment complex on the east side of Indianapolis. Individuals were seen leaving an apartment in the complex . These individuals got into two additional vehicles and drove from the area. Both vehicles were subsequently stopped and three individuals were detained. Search warrants were obtained on a total of four vehicles, an apartment, and a business in Hamilton County. Evidence obtained from these warrants were linked to the robbery.
As a result of the investigation, three men have been arrested in connection with the robbery. They were transported to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center. They have been charged with Robbery, a level 3 Felony, Robbery, a Level 5 Felony, and Corrupt Business Influence, a level 5 Felony.
Arrested were: William Wooten, age 30, William Washington, Age 19, and Travis Fennell, Age 20.
Assisting the Kokomo Police Department in this investigation were the FBI/IMPD Safe Streets Task Force, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Indianapolis Metropolitan Swat Team, FBI Indianapolis Office, and the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.
