A Season of Chaos, Suspense & Show Tunes at Red Barn Theatre

The 58th season of the Red Barn Summer Theatre is shaping up to be one of its most ambitious and entertaining yet, blending world premieres, suspenseful drama, and high-energy musical comedy for audiences across the region.

Season sponsorship is once again provided by Bailey Trucking, continuing a long-standing partnership that supports the theatre’s summer programming.

The 2026 season will open with a major milestone: a world premiere titled THE GERMAN TROPICS, written by Artistic Director Michael Taylor in celebration of his 10th year leading the company. Known for his fast-paced comedic style, Taylor brings a physical comedy farce filled with door-slamming chaos, pratfalls, and nonstop energy. The production promises a lively start to the season, with support from sponsor The Farmers Bank.

Responding to audience requests for something darker, the second production will shift tone with the thriller WAIT UNTIL DARK. The suspenseful play follows an unexpected victim who must outwit her captors in a tense battle of strategy and survival. The production is sponsored by Zachary Confections, marking a dramatic contrast to the season’s opening comedy.

Closing out the season is the high-energy musical SOMETHING ROTTEN!, a Renaissance-era comedic romp centered on the creation of what becomes the world’s first musical. Known for its big dance numbers and heartfelt humor, the show promises to be a standout finale. Sponsorship for the production comes from Encompass Credit Union.

This year also introduces an expanded tradition: Music on the Lawn, held every performance evening and sponsored by Heather’s Flowers, adding a festive outdoor experience for patrons. Additionally, NHK will enhance opening night celebrations throughout the season.

Tickets for the 2026 season go on sale Friday, May 1, with both season and individual show options available online at redbarntheatre.net.
