Mayor Judy Sheets has officially proclaimed May 15 and May 16 as “Tootsie Roll Day” in the City of Frankfort, recognizing the long-standing efforts of the Knights of Columbus in supporting local athletes and raising awareness for Special Olympics programs in Clinton County.
During the two-day community event, residents will see members of the Knights of Columbus throughout the city distributing Tootsie Rolls while collecting donations to benefit Special Olympics athletes and programs locally. The annual campaign has become a meaningful tradition that highlights community generosity and support for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Mayor Sheets praised the organization’s dedication to service and its continued commitment to making a positive impact throughout the community. The proclamation serves as both a celebration of volunteerism and a reminder of the importance of inclusion, compassion, and opportunities for all athletes.
Funds raised during Tootsie Roll Day help provide resources, training opportunities, competitions, and support services for Special Olympics participants in Clinton County. Organizers encourage residents to stop by, say hello, and support the cause when they see volunteers out in the community.
The City of Frankfort thanks the Knights of Columbus for their continued efforts and encourages everyone to participate in supporting Special Olympics athletes and their inspiring achievements.
