With the event quickly approaching, the Frankfort Marine Corps League is encouraging golfers and sponsors to sign up for its inaugural golf fundraiser, which will benefit the organization’s scholarship program.
The outing is scheduled for Friday, July 10, at Deer Track Golf Course, and organizers say there is still time to register, but spots are filling quickly.
The event costs $60 per golfer, with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. and a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Participants will have the opportunity to compete for prizes, including Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.
The league is also seeking hole sponsors for the event. Sponsorships are available for $100, with proceeds supporting the Marine Corps League’s scholarship program.
Those interested in entering a team, sponsoring a hole or learning more about the outing can contact Joey Mitchell at marinecorpsleague967@gmail.com.
League officials also noted that no applications were received for this year’s scholarship program. The scholarship is available to graduating seniors attending schools in Clinton County who have a family member who served in the U.S. Marine Corps or as a Fleet Marine Force (FMF) Corpsman. Eligible students are encouraged to speak with their school counselors about applying during next year’s scholarship cycle.
In addition to promoting the golf outing, the Frankfort Marine Corps League is looking to grow its membership. The detachment meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Frankfort VFW. Veterans with an honorable DD-214 are eligible to become members, while community members who did not serve in the Marine Corps may join as associate members to assist with community service projects and other league activities.
