The popular Wacky Quacky Duck Derby is making a splash this week as United Way for Clinton County hosts two of its biggest summer events, bringing families together while supporting local programs and helping students prepare for the upcoming school year.
Residents are invited to participate in the annual Duck Derby and Back-to-School Waddle, with proceeds and community support benefiting United Way’s mission of improving lives throughout Clinton County.
United Way Week Events — July 23
The annual Back-to-School Waddle will take place Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at TPA Park. The family-friendly event will provide free backpacks while supplies last, along with a variety of resources and activities for students and families.
Attendees can take advantage of $10 sports physicals, school photos, community resource information, bounce houses, food vendors and other activities throughout the evening.
Also on July 23, the excitement continues with the return of the Wacky Quacky Duck Derby at Sapphire Bay in TPA Park at 7 p.m. Thousands of rubber ducks will race down the Lazy River as spectators cheer on their favorites.
The first three ducks to cross the finish line will earn cash prizes:
- First Place: $1,000
- Second Place: $500
- Third Place: $250
Adding to the week’s community events, Cindy Loveless of Kaspar Media will broadcast live from the festival on WILO 96.9 FM and Boone 102.7 FM from 4 to 6 p.m. The live coverage will include interviews, festival updates and free giveaways sponsored by Homestead Resources.
