As she prepares to begin her 32nd year in education, second-grade teacher Michele Houser has received a generous donation from Lowe’s and its vendor, Kobalt, to help create an organized, functional, and engaging learning environment for her students.
After spending the past four years serving as an interventionist and literacy coach, Houser is returning to her true passion, the second-grade classroom. Wanting to create a classroom that promotes organization, collaboration, and hands-on learning, she wrote a heartfelt letter explaining how Kobalt’s durable, high-quality products could be adapted for educational use.
Her story resonated with Lowe’s longstanding commitment to supporting educators and strengthening local communities.
Working with District Manager Daniel Mata and Store Manager Ali Cooper, Lowe’s responded with an incredible donation that will have an immediate impact on Houser’s classroom.
Among the donated items were a Kobalt rolling toolbox with built-in electrical outlets, which will serve as secure classroom storage while also providing a convenient charging station for student laptop computers. Houser also received a Kobalt rolling workbench, which she plans to use as a standing instructional desk, allowing her to move easily throughout the classroom while teaching and collaborating with students.
In addition to the Kobalt furniture, Lowe’s generously fulfilled several items from Houser’s classroom wish list, including fabric storage bins, organizational containers, pegboard accessories, and storage drawers that will help keep classroom materials accessible and organized for young learners.
