The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of central Indiana, including Clinton County, through 5 p.m. EDT today.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch 565 includes 24 counties across central, east central, north central and west central Indiana.
Locally, the watch includes Clinton, Carroll, Boone, Howard, Tipton, Hamilton, Tippecanoe, Montgomery and surrounding counties.
Cities included in the watch area include Frankfort, Clinton, Delphi, Flora, Kokomo, Lafayette, Lebanon, Carmel, Fishers, Indianapolis, Noblesville, Zionsville, Crawfordsville, West Lafayette, Anderson, Muncie, Rushville and Shelbyville, among others.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms to develop. Residents should remain alert to changing weather conditions and be prepared to seek shelter if a warning is issued for their location.
The National Weather Service will continue to monitor the developing storms throughout the afternoon.
