Parents, teachers and home educators are invited to take part in a three-part Science of Reading Workshop series at the Kirklin Library this fall.
Presented by The Reading Table, the workshops are designed to help adults better understand how children learn to read and provide practical strategies that can be used at home or in the classroom.
The first session, “Introduction to Science of Reading and How We Learn to Read,” will be held Saturday, August 22, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The second session, “Nuts and Bolts of Teaching Children to Read,” is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants will walk away with a plan to help teach or support their child’s reading development.
The final session, “Bring Your Curriculum Questions,” will take place Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This session will help participants align their curriculum with the principles of the Science of Reading.
Each session costs $10 and will be held at the Kirklin Library. Participants may attend individual sessions or take part in the full series.
