A driver was critically injured Wednesday afternoon following a serious crash involving a passenger vehicle and a semi on Interstate 65 near Lebanon.
The crash occurred August 12 at approximately 2:27 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-65 near mile marker 137.
Lebanon Police Department officers and Lebanon Fire Department personnel were dispatched to the area for a reported crash with entrapment. Upon arrival, officers learned the driver of the passenger vehicle was trapped inside and unresponsive.
Lebanon Fire personnel were able to extricate the driver, who was transported to an Indianapolis-area hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the semi was not injured. Police identified the semi driver as 70-year-old Ephriam Spraggins of Seagoville, Texas.
Due to the severity of the crash and the driver’s injuries, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office CRASH Team was requested to assist with the investigation.
According to the preliminary investigation, weather conditions contributed to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
