Lennon suffered multiple life-threatening injuries in the accident on August 6. A community benefit event is being planned for Saturday, September 19, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the lot across from Colfax Pizza King.
The evening will feature live music from Radio Flyer, who were originally scheduled to perform during the Friday night show at the Ole Hickory Days Festival. The band will now bring their music to the benefit event as the community gathers to support Lennon and his family.
Funds raised during the event will help the Simpson family offset medical expenses related to Lennon’s injuries.
Colfax Pizza King will also participate in the fundraiser by donating a percentage of its sales from September 19 to the Simpson family.
Organizers are also planning a silent auction and are currently accepting donations of goods and services that can be auctioned during the event.
Anyone interested in helping with donations or other aspects of the event can contact Lacey from the Ole Hickory Days Committee. Her contact information is available on the Ole Hickory Days Facebook page.
