Richard C. Hackerd, 77, of Rossville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.
He was born on March 28, 1949, to the late Robert Hackerd and Mary Faye (Tansey) Hackerd.
Richard graduated from Rossville High School and went on to marry Diana Gregory, with whom he shared more than five decades of life. Together, Richard and Diana enjoyed traveling and spending time on the open road on their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Richard was also an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed his time on the golf course.
Richard retired from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo after 35 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, he continued putting his talents to work through his own remodeling business. A skilled craftsman, Richard took great pride in his work and became well known and sought after throughout the community for his abilities.
Richard is survived by his wife, Diana Hackerd; two sons, Thadius and Brian Hackerd; siblings, Robert Hackerd of Utah and Janet Morton of Texas; and dear friends, Gary Myers and Tiffany Beard; as well as other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Julia DeFord.
In accordance with Richard’s wishes, cremation will take place. Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville is assisting the family with arrangements.
