The Arts Federation, in partnership with Newtown Farm Service, recently celebrated the dedication of a new mural in Newtown as part of the Wabash Walls program.
The community dedication was held Saturday, August 29, at 10 a.m. at Newtown Farm Service, located at 2231 IN-341 in Attica. Community members were invited to bring friends and family to gather and celebrate the newest piece of public art in the area.
Wabash Walls is The Arts Federation’s mural program, which was created in 2008 to bring public art to communities throughout the 14 counties of North Central Indiana served by the organization.
The program was initially piloted in Lafayette as an effort to reduce vandalism. Since its creation, Wabash Walls has grown to include more than 150 murals created by artists from around the world.
The program works to connect local communities with artists to develop murals featuring themes, content and subject matter that are meaningful to each community. The effort has helped unite the region while establishing North Central Indiana as an arts destination.
The new mural in Newtown adds another piece of public art to the growing Wabash Walls collection and provides a lasting addition to the community.
