The Town of Kirklin has been awarded a $27,000 planning grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
The funding will be used for a stormwater utility study to provide a comprehensive review of Kirklin’s stormwater infrastructure, identify existing problem areas and needs, and develop a plan to guide future improvements.
According to the town, portions of Kirklin’s stormwater infrastructure are aging, undersized or not well documented. The planning study will provide the town with information to address those issues strategically and help identify potential funding opportunities for future improvements.
Town officials also thanked residents who completed and returned community surveys during the grant application process. The town said the community’s participation was an important part of pursuing the funding.
The $27,000 grant will allow Kirklin to begin planning for future stormwater improvements and gather information that can be used when seeking additional funding.
Town officials expressed appreciation to OCRA for its investment in the community and said the grant represents another step forward for Kirklin.
